Prospective Undergraduate Students
The YEP Lab is always looking for curious, enthusiastic, and hardworking SOU undergraduates. Participating in undergraduate research is an excellent chance to gain research experience, explore your interests in biology, and make new friends and colleagues that will support you in your future career.
Interested SOU students should email Dr. Youngblood at youngjaco@sou.edu to inquire about opportunities. In your email, please include a breif description of your career goals or interests in biology, as well as a description of what you hope to gain from undergraduate research.
Prospective Graduate Students
The YEP Lab cannot accept graduate students because the Department of Biology at SOU does not offer a graduate degree program. Before reaching out to other PIs, I recommend prospective graduate students read this article to demystify the graduate application process.
Prospective Postdocs
The YEP Lab is prepared to collaborate with potential postdocs on applying for external fellowships such as the NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Biology (NSF PRFB). Ideal candidates plan to pursue faculty careers at predominately undergraduate institutions and have experience in at least one of the following areas: insect biology, ecological/environmental physiology, population ecology, ecological modeling, or biogeography/macroecology. Interested postdocs who meet this description should should email me at youngjaco@sou.edu to discuss potential projects.
